Camtasia Video Tutorial Assignment

Video tutorial is a type of instructional video comprosing of recorded steps on a particular topic. Video tutorials may include sides, photos, graphics, narration, screenshots, on-screen captions, music, and etc.

Video tutorials are used in the classrooms to encourage learner to think critically and grasp clear concepts. It also provides learners an opportunity for independent learning, helps in loger retention of information, and the student motivation is increased.

We integratevideo tutotal in tecahing and learning through iCT integrated lesson plans, where we embed rlevant images, animations, and otehr effects on a particular topic and then producing the information in a video file format.

Some of the tools tu used for creating a video tutorial are Camtasia studio 8, Screencast-O-Matic, and Screencastify apps.

For my video lesson, I used Camtasia studio, which is an educational software. Camtasia studio allows us to capture the computer screen along with live video screens and shots. It is a uer friendly program, providing facilities for the user to create and edit recording as per the plans.

The following are the steps that i followed while creating video tutorial using Camtasia studio.

i. I crreated a power point presentation on the topic 'stem and leaf plots'

ii. Then, i opened the powerpoint presentation that i created and then minimized it.

iii. Then, I double-clicked on Camtasia icon.

iv. I clicked on the "Record screen" to capture the powerpoint that I had created.

v. I turned on the webcam and clicked on the "Powerpoint Show" for recording.

vi. After adjusting the screen, I clicked on the "Record" button.

vii. As the countdown began, I recored my video by explaining what was in the powerpoint presentation.

viii. After I was done, I used the Fn+ 10 to stop the recording.

ix. Then, i clicked in 'save and Edit' for saving my recording.

x. After I was done editing, i clicked on the "Produce and share" option.

xi. Then, I clicked the Next' button, gave a file name, and clicked 'finish' and the rendering project completed to 100%.

In the future, I, as a teacher, will make use Camtasia studio to come up with video tutorials so that my studnts don't get bored of my monotonous lecture. Moreover, they will retain the information for a longer duration and learn better. Additionally, the video tutorial can be my substitutde when I am out of school at times. This will help me keep my students involved and on track.

ICT as Situating tool

Situating tools are applications that situates a user in an environment where they are able to experience the context. This includes 3D computer simulated images, experiential learning environment, and simulation instructional games.  Situating tools are important in the classrooms so that students be able to understand and comprehend the the ideas of the real world by applying theories in real life (hands on experiences). Following are the examples of situating tool and situating tools can be integrated in the classrooms using these tools: 1. GraphCalc 2. GeoGebra 3. Google Earth 4. Simulation games 6. Google Maps   We use situating tools in the classrooms to situate user in the environment, and for the user to be able to understand variables. Situating tools are also important so that a user is bale to communicate with other users. This also help enhance creativity skills.
